3 Simple Things That Will Hide and Fix Your Skin Problems

Are your skin problems getting in the way of an enjoyable life? You’re not alone. Most of us have suffered from a skin inconvenience at some point in time. Whether it be a small itchy rash to something more problematic, that requires a physician’s care, knowing the signs and symptoms will not only alleviate the uncomfortable feeling that some skin conditions can bring but will also help you to appear more vibrant, clear and healthy.

Knowing what causes your skin problems and seeking the right solutions takes the right amount of dedication to solving the flare-ups.

What Causes Skin Conditions?

Many of us have this notion that if we suffer from problems, such as red dots on skin, then there might be something inherently wrong with us. This isn’t the case and we all suffer from occasional acne or rashes. Other conditions are caused by hormones, while some are often caused by environmental factors. Even the foods we eat can have an adverse effect on our appearance. Perfumes, dyes or certain detergents can also exacerbate symptoms, as well.

Some of the most common skin conditions include:

Acne – Caused by clogged pores that are filled with dirt and oil and become inflamed. Typically occurring in teenagers, acne can form at any point in life.

Seborrheic Dermatitis – Similar to psoriasis and eczema, seborrheic dermatitis is flaky scaly skin that appears on the scalp, chest and even arms and legs. There are no known causes but can be aggravated by stress, a yeast, cold, dry weather and certain medications.

Eczema – An inflammation of the skin on a particular area of the body. Usually itchy, eczema normally appears on the elbows and wrists, the neck and back of knees.

Skin Cancer – Contains an uncontrolled growth of abnormal skin cells. The most common cause of skin cancer is caused by UVA/UVB radiation from the sun.

Psoriasis – Itchy, flaky, red skin that forms in patches. Actually forms underneath the skin and caused by overactive skin cell production.

Treatments for Skin Conditions

No one likes to worry about their skin, however, you can camouflage and even alleviate them when they do flare up. Here are 3 crafty ways to do just that!

1. Double-duty Concealer

We live in a multitasking world so what you put on your skin doesn’t have to be any different. If you find yourself recoiling in fear from the public because you just can’t be seen with unsightly blemishes, the answer is concealer.

Concealer covers a manner of sins because it hides those troublesome blemishes and helps us to look more awake. Concealer comes in many forms, cream, stick and even pencil and is not only for women, as many formulations are produced for men also.

It isn’t just enough to wear any regular concealer. A medicinal one, containing active ingredients, such as peptides, retinols, salicylic acids and aloe will not only cover your flaws, but will work to kill the bacteria and alleviate inflammation while doing so.

2. Avoid Triggers & Stress

Blemish-prone skin needs extra protection. Stave away from things that prompt inflammation, which can be caused by what you eat. Certain foods trigger problematic skin, such as refined dairy, sugars, flours, starches and even oils that come from animal fat. Instead leafy greens, fruits, nuts and foods containing omega-3’s to keep your skin remaining supple without adding to the problem.

As for preventing skin cancer and aggravating conditions, such as psoriasis, wear an SPF of at least 30 when out in the sun to protect your skin and prevent any undue age spots or wrinkles.

Be mindful of what you put on your body, as well. Mineral oil, alchohols and perfumes can all cause blocked pores and stir up itchiness and dryness.

3. Exercise

If you are prone to irritated skin, then it will be smart to take extra care while exercising, but did you know that regular sweating will also help quell symptoms associated with acne, psoriasis or rosacea?

When we exercise, blood flows to the skin cells, bringing with it nourishment and oxygen. As we sweat, free radicals and dirt are also carried away, which cleanses your skin from the inside out. Exercise also encourages a reduction in stress levels, which helps to relieve the problems associated with it.

There are as many solutions to skin concerns as there are skin conditions themselves. Keep these tips in mind to keep your skin clear and healthy.
